According to our Wedding Wire countdown clock, it says there are 291 days until our BIG DAY! It still seems so surreal that we are getting married.

I guess for me I never thought this day would really happen. I had dated so many frogs in my life and when I met the blue-eyed cutie I knew he was the one. With our financial struggles we weren’t sure we could make this happen but we are. We are getting help from family which we appreciate so much.

Things started to seem more real when I went back to Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago. I went to town for five days to get everything secured: flowers, cake, food and the most exciting-my dress.

Mom and I started my first full day there heading to the bakery just outside the resort town the blue-eyed cutie and I are getting married in. So much good stuff: various flavors of cake, fillings and frosting. The perfect breakfast. They are going to do some great things to the cake that will fit with our theme and won’t kill our budget. After that we had some time to kill so we went to the visitors’ bureau to find out about getting the new vacation guides when they are available. After that we went to the flower shop and I love our florist. The flower designer doesn’t like baby’s breath like me. The woman that we met with had some great ideas for flowers and things to add to our centerpieces. (We are using fake flowers we bought at Michael’s for the centerpieces.) I showed them the picture of a bouquet I found on Pinterest and they are able to do it.

Later in the day we went to venue so I could see it. I was lucky because they had it set up for a wedding that night. I was able to get a good idea of what it will look like. And then there was the food. I was able to try one of our dinner choices and it was amazing. After our long day of driving and eating we headed home.

The next full day was dress shopping! I was so excited to see my girls and try on pretty dresses. Since one of our sorority sisters manages a bridal salon that is the first place we went. We were treated like VIPs. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I found the one, it was the third one I tried on. But of course my friend wanted me to try on more, just so I was sure. I kept going back to the third one and I SAID YES TO THE DRESS! My girls also were able to find their bridesmaid dresses right away too. It couldn’t have happened any better.

My last full day mom and I spent the day buying stuff for centerpieces and for the ceremony space. I had a great time wedding planning while back home.

It still feels a bit surreal though, but I know once things get closer it will feel more and more real.
